Promises of a world in the making
Each year, the Earth generates 100 to 200 billion tons of plant biomass, of which one billion is mobilizable. Its main constituent is cellulose. Renewable and recyclable, this natural resource with remarkable properties can be transformed and enhanced. Cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin, extracted from wood from eco-managed forests, are used to manufacture:
• biomaterials – paper, cardboard, biocomposites – to which additional properties (mechanical, optical, electronic, barrier, etc.) can be added by various printing methods,
• 2nd generation biofuels,
• Bioproducts with multiple applications (chemistry, pharmacy, cosmetics, food, automobile, etc.).
