Founded in 1343, the University of Pisa is a public institution renowned in particular for its academic expertise in physics, mathematics and engineering. Comprised of twenty departments, it offers its 54.000 students a wide range of courses. It is also reputed for its high-level research in the fields of agronomy, astrophysics, IT, engineering sciences, mathematics and human and veterinary medicine.

The agreement's underlying purpose is to foster continuous and fruitful cooperation between the Grenoble-based engineering school and the Tuscan university, through academic visits, joint teaching programmes, student exchanges, as well as the analysis of work placement opportunities within companies in France and Italy. Also to be explored is the possibility of developing an online training program with co-created content. It also seeks to stimulate active collaboration between the teacher researchers of the two establishments through invitational conferences and various other events. In addition, there will be a focus on joint research and scientific publications.
