Goals

Learning outcomes :

  • To carry out the main printability tests;
  • To lead (and participate in) a scientific debate;
  • To define a series of tests in order to characterize a printing defect;
  • To write an expertise report including hypotheses and solution tracks.

Content

This course implies problem-based learning.
4 phases :

  • carry out a bibliographic research and use the "5M" method to determine which tests to carry out.
  • Carry out printability tests. Analyse results and build hypotheses.
  • Prepare and participate in a scientific debate in order to find an agreement on the origin of the defect.
  • Write a report on the expertise.


Prerequisites
  • Mastering paper, printing and converting processes, equipments and materials involved.
  • Mastering the scientific and technical English language .
  • Mastering bibliographic research methods and tools.

Tests

L’évaluation se compose dGrading is divided into 3 parts composing a note out of 20 points :

  • Participation of the student group in the scientific debate (oral)/ 8 points.
  • Production of a synthetic document including the defect description, the results of the 5M method applied to this defect, the explained choice of tests to carry out , a protocol for one printability test, an analysis of the results and the position facing the arguments during the debate. The document is given to the teacher in paper format and in digital format (put on the Chamilo platform) before a given deadline./ 8 points.
  • Individual involvement / 4 points.
