Goals

Course on basic hydraulics, from theoretical to practical aspects. The main objectives are to understand:

  • how to write balances,
  • how to use the generalized Bernoulli's principle
  • how energy conversion occurs
  • how to determine pressure drops in circuits
  • how to choose an pump
  • the main phenomena related to flow around objects

Content

1.Fluid statics
2. Equations of conservation for a perfect fluid: mass, mechanical energy(Bernoulli's equation), momentum (Euler's equations).
3. Application of the Bernoulli's equation and of the first Euler's theorem
4. Fluid dynamics
5. Hydraulic circuits
6. Pumps
7. Flow around objects
8. Informations TP : rappels et compléments.



Prerequisites

Basic knwoledge in mechanics of perfect fluids and fluid statix. Fluid properties (viscosity).

Tests

Written test with documents (with course handout, tutorials, practical works handout) or with personal summary sheets). The choice will be defined with the students during the course.
