Goal(s)

Learning outcomes :

  • To define a user network of several workstations, a machine network and an interconnection network for several routers, according to available sub-networks (identifying the number of remaining addresses in each case).
  • To diagram a network (Vlan, addressing...) in a detailed way, and to make a model by being careful with the interconnection addressing.

Content(s)

this course is a continuation of the course of the same "Networks": see this sheet

Understanding of networks and network configuration:

  • Creating a local network
  • Determination of a number of intermediate nodes from a machine to the server (using the traceroute command)
  • Displays all current connections, all listening connections and ports, and all connections that use the UDP protocol (using the nestats command)
  • Ownership on a level 2 network equipment.
  • Determination of a subnetwork mask.
  • Setting up a topology (using a switch or static routing)
  • Display, configuration, assignment of static IP addresses to servers and different workstations according to specific constraints and indications
  • Configuration of a default gateway and the DNS server of each workstation
  • Checking that the workstations have obtained the IP addresses mentioned in the configuration of a profile
  • Configuration at the "client" router the default routing (all external networks) to the "provider" router
  • Addition of the necessary routing rules for two routers

Test

  • Specific credits: this course brings 1.5 ECTS to students in Digital Printing and Printed electronic

evaluation of the Practical work Report
