Process control and supervision on a semi-industrial scale (A)

TP Refining:
It consists of manipulations on a semi-industrial pilot (A), exploitation of process data acquired during tests (B and D), characterisation of the morphology of the pasta (C) and exploitation and synthesis of the various results obtained in order to make the links between the specific quantities of refining control and the properties of the pasta obtained (C).

TP Trace and Analysis of Circuits, TAC :
The industrial manufacture of paper on paper machines (MAP) requires a good understanding of the circulation circuits of the different flows and unit operations. During these sessions, you will have to establish the schematization of the circulation circuits of the different flows (solid, liquid, gas) in accordance with the scheduling of the unit operations (A), describe the main components present and their specificities (B) and analyze the design of the machine (C).

TP Fibre and water balance:
The objective is to familiarize yourself with the circuits and make a critical analysis of the raw material balance for a steady-state papermaking process. The steps of the work are to:

  • recognize circuits and determine system boundaries (A)
  • formally write the balances (fibre/water) (D)
  • choose the measurements to be carried out and their frequency, the measurement means (B)
  • carry out the measurements and calculate the relevant quantities (B)
  • establish the practical assessment (D)
  • establish the link between process and finished product (C)

TP Pressing :
The objective is to study a pressing installation, the relevant pressing quantities and the impact of pressing on the operating parameters of a MAP. The steps of the work are to:

  • recognize equipment (main and useful) (A)
  • formally write the balances (fibre/water) (D)
  • choose the measurements to be carried out and their frequency, the measuring equipment (A)
  • carry out the measurements and calculate the relevant quantities (B)
  • establish the practical assessment (D)
  • analyse the impact of operating conditions on paper dehydration, the operating cost of MAP and some properties of dry paper (C)

Tests

Refining TP: The evaluation will take into account the preparation of the TPs, individual involvement in the practical work, the report written in powerpoint form

TAC TP: The evaluation will take into account the preparation of the TPs, individual involvement in the practical work, the report written in powerpoint form

TP Fibre assessment: The assessment will take into account the preparation work, the involvement during the sessions and the quality of the written report.

Pressing TP: The evaluation will take into account the preparation work, the involvement during the sessions and the quality of the written reports (poster and calculation documents).

At the end of the semester, an oral defense (per group) and then a written exam (individual) are organized.



L’évaluation se fera en prenant en compte la préparation des TP (3 pts), l’implication individuelle pendant les séances (3 pts), les rendus écrits (9 pts), la présentation orale (2.5 pts) et le contrôle écrit (2.5 pts)

Sécurité-Environnement
TP Raffinage Sécurité : Utilisation d'une machine pilote semi-industrielle Une feuille de route est donnée en début de séance à tous les participants : elle détaille les risques et les consignes de sécurité lors de la fabrication sur machine. Un tour de repérage des installations est organisé en début de séance (boutons d'arrêts d'urgence) Le port des protections auditives est obligatoire autour de la machine en route Chaussures fermées, cheveux longs attachés, pas d'habits flottants Environnement : les consignes à respecter sont données en début de séance (feuille de route) La pâte, une fois raffinée, est récupérée dans des cuves de stockage pour fabriquer du papier ultérieurement. L'évaluation de la consommation énergétique totale fait partie intégrante du TP Les élèves n'ayant pas suivi la formation sécurité lors de l'intégration à Pagora ne sont pas autorisés à manipuler en TP
