Learning outcomes :

  • Know the operating principles of the gravure process, the associated technical constraints, the advantages and limitations of this process;
  • Situate gravure printing and its evolution in its technical and economic context (publishing, packaging, decoration);
  • Analyze one or two scientific publications and produce a critical report.

Historical background.

3. Gravure printing.
4. The different applications of the gravure process.
Trends and perspectives.

Guided work : groups of 2 students study a scientific publication (written in English) dealing with the gravure process. They use a critical approach to interpret the results presented, from the knowledge they developed in class. The written report is delivered by the students.

Depending on applicable sanitary constraints, the sessions may be held at distance.

Specifications : The report is written in English and typed (4 pages maximum, body 12 typeface, 1.5 line space). It is delivered in paper and electronic formats before a given deadline.
Le rapport must comment the publication and its results, and especially answer a number of questions (provided with the publication).

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge on printing processes.
  • Understanding English (course taught in English).

Course taught in English.

The report is evaluated and graded.
The report is given to the teacher in paper format and in digital format (put on the Chamilo platform) before a given deadline.
Can be made up if the lack of delivery of the homework is justified.

The final grade is the one obtained for the written report.
La note tient compte du respect du cahier des charges et de la forme (orthographe, style).
The grade will take into account how the report meets the specifications and how the document is written (spelling and style).
