Two young talents from Pagora rewarded by Intergraf

Congratulations to Bastien Combeau and Cédric Dumont, two engineering students distinguished by Intergraf during the 2020 edition of the Young Talent Award.
Based in Brussels, Intergraf is the European federation of print and digital communication. It represents 21 national printing federations from 20 countries and its members represent a large part of the graphic industries in Europe. The Young Talent Award is a competition open each year to all young people in the sector (25 years maximum), students and employees: each candidate provides an article of 2 to 5 pages in English, as well as any other visual support deemed necessary, in order to present its proposals related to the imposed theme.

This year, Intergraf addressed recruitment - a crucial problem for many companies - by asking participants to submit their ideas on how to attract young people to the graphics industries. The federation received a large number of applications from all over Europe tackling this subject in various innovative ways, so much so that the jury exceptionally decided to reward more than one candidate by offering second and third prizes, in addition to the first.

We were very impressed with all of the entrants to our Young Talent Award this year. Attracting young people to the printing industry is consistently highlighted as one of the main challenges companies across Europe need to overcome; consequently, feedback from young people on this topic is vital. Alongside my congratulations to the winners, I'd also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the entrants who took time to respond to this year's award call. The level of responses we received was extremely high and you should all be very proud of your work. Beatrice Klose, Secretary General of Intergraf.

The first prize was awarded to Bastien Combeau, 2nd year student engineer from Grenoble INP-Pagora, in the Print Communication Engineering option, for the excellence of his dossier entitled How to attract young people to the printing industry.

Cédric Dumont, 1st year student engineer from Grenoble INP-Pagora, won the 3rd prize.

If the state of health emergency linked to the coronavirus is lifted by then, Bastien Combeau will present his paper at Intergraf's upcoming Print Matters for the Future conference in Stockholm on Friday 5 June. Delegates will hear his views on increasing awareness of the printing industry among young people, using and valorising young human resources, using social media and online influencers, opening the doors to curiosity, and feminising the workforce.
