- To know and understand the paper industry and its main principles
- To know the benchmarks, key figures and vocabulary
- To situate oneself in this professional context
Printing industry fund.
Learning outcomes :
- To know the graphic workflow and the main printing processes, and understand their links with substrates production and converting;
- To know the converting processes used in the flat and corrugated cardboard industry;
- To know the converting processes used in bags and tubes manufacturing;
- To acquire a good vision of the technical and market trends of the print media industry;
- To determine which printing process was used to manufacture a given printed product;
- To use a densitometer.

Presentations will deal with :
A. The graphic workflow. Elements about image processing.
B. Short description of the main printing processes (offset lithography, gravure, flexography, typography, ink jet, electrophotography)
D. The print media business (data, markets)
Trends
according to the time available, a quiz is proposed to check how concepts are understood.

Supervised examination
Short questions.
Sole authorized document : a handwritten A4 sheet, with the owner's name on it and dealing with the course.
The examination can be made up in case of a justified absence.

In the event of a sanitary constraint, the exam will take place remotely; it will be an online multiple choice questionnaire.

Environmental security
Les consignes relatives à la sécurité et à l'environnement sont évoquées en tant que de besoin. Les enseignements ont lieu dans des salles de cours ou des salles informatiques.

The lessons take place in classrooms and laboratories. Safety and environmental instructions are mentioned as needed and may differ from one lab session to another (wearing of PPE, authorized work areas, etc.)
Also remember to turn off the lights and any equipment (according to current regulations) when leaving the rooms.
