Michael HAS

Following apprenticeships as in the field of industrial chemistry and as locksmith, Michael Has studied Physics. He received his Dr. from Regensburg University and spent the first part of his career in industrial research in the Fogra Institute in Munich, Germany. He took the initiative and founded the group which later became the International Color Consortium – for who he served as their first Technical Secretary.

In his early career Dr. Has served on several advisory boards (such as of Linotype), held board positions e.g. at TAGA and in start-up companies, was part of Scientific Advisory Boards. His scientific work on industry development led to numerous publications in the field of Color Management, Workflow Management, Market Development in the Printing Industry, and Digital Printing. For that, he was awarded a Mac World Award and, with the ICC, he received the Seybold Award for Innovation.

At Océ/Canon, he held positions of responsibility in R&D, global portfolio planning and marketing. Since 2022, he has been a partner in the Monopteros consulting firm (Düsseldorf, Germany), specializing in corporate sustainability.  
In 1996, Michael Has joined Grenoble INP - Pagora, UGA (formerly EFPG - École française de papeterie et des industries graphiques) and obtained a habilitation to direct research in 1998.

He has been teaching in Grenoble as a Distinguished Professor since then. Teaching subjects include his fields of professional activity in the areas of Technology, Business and Portfolio Strategy, and Marketing. Dr. Has has mentored undergraduate and graduate student research projects and many of his students have published their research in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Has' reputation in teaching and service is considerable. His teaching evaluations are consistently outstanding. In recognition of his contribution and way to guide students he was named Trusted lecturer of the Hans Böckler Foundation – the foundation of the German Trade Unions. The Hans Böckler Foundation is the institute of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) to promote research and studies. The HSB awards scholarships to doctoral students with outstanding academic gifts who show commitment to labour unions or socio-political issues.
