Goal(s)
Learning outcomes :
- to apply Material Transfer methods to the study of materials: filtration membrane, lignocellulosic materials.
- To measure diffusion coefficients.
- To know the functioning and properties of an ion exchange resin in batch and continuous reactor
- To measure the characteristics of the resin studied (exchange capacity, specific surface area, exchange constant,...)
- To measure material transfer coefficients between resin and fluid phase in the reactors studied
Marc AUROUSSEAU
Content(s)
Practical work cycle includes 4 sessions:
- Quasi-stationary mass transfer through a membrane: determination of the diffusivity of a solute through a membrane.
- Desorption kinetics from wood chips: effect of tortuosity in the radial and longitudinal directions.
- Mass transfer and exchange in a resin bed: characterization of the resin (exchange capacity, densities, equilibrium constant, ...); study of continuous operation: piercing curve, global mass transfer coefficient and HUET.
- to put into practice the knowledge acquired in the courses the courses: mass transfer and mass exchanges (mass balance, diffusion, convection, dimensionless numbers, height of unit transfer,...);
- to put into practice the knowledge acquired on flow in porous media (energy balance,...);
- to characterize an ion exchange resin (exchange capacity, specific surface, exchange constant ,...)
- to write and structure a pratical work report that includes an analysis of the results;
- to hexperiment with care (preparation of solutions, dosages, space of measurement organization ,...).
- To illustrate also course on flow into porous media (PW on resin bed).
Course of mass transfer and fluid mechanics
Evaluation of practical work on collective report and on individual participation and preparation.
moyenne des notes des 4 TP noté chacun sur 20 et intégrant le CR collectif (13 points), la participation individuelle (3 points) et la préparation individuelle (4 points).
