ECTS 15.0
Goal(s)
0ptical properties of paper and their measurement.
Learning outcome:
- To know and understand the main phenomena occurring during the interactions occuring between light and fibrous materials and, more generally, light-absorbing and scattering materials.
- To know the optical properties classically measured for papers and the main spectral properties of sources and illuminants
- To know the measurement methods of the main optical properties of papers.
- Understand the influence of the illumination geometry, of the light source and the observation on the measurement of the spectral response (relation between the degree of whiteness, opacity, basis weight and degree of gloss)
- Understand the contribution of additives (dyes, fluorescent agents, mineral fillers) to the degree of whiteness
- Understand and know how to apply the Kubelka and Munk models
