Goal(s)

Learning outcomes:

  • To know the main structural, mechanical and surface properties of the paper material and their -characterization methods,
  • To know the different scales involved in paper structure and properties,
  • To understand the mechanisms leading to the formation of papers,
  • To link the structure of papers to their mechanical and optical properties,
  • To understand the influence of unitary operations on the physical properties of papers,
  • To link pulp characteristics and processing conditions to paper properties,
  • To know the relevant quantities involved in thermal transfer phenomena in papers,
  • To know how to reproduce the coloration of paper.
