Goal(s)

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the influence of unitary operations on the physical properties of pulp and paper,
  • To know the main properties of paper material,
  • To list and state the relevant structural properties: porosity, thickness, weight, specific volume,
  • To understand structural anisotropy: knowing measurement methods and how it influences physical properties,
  • To analyze the main physical characteristics of the paper material (mechanical, permeability, burst strength, roughness, tear strength, absorption),
  • To know the relevant quantities related to thermal transfer phenomena in papers,
  • To know how to reproduce the coloration of paper.
