ECTS 33.0
Goal(s)
course
To apply the main mechanisms of organic chemistry to the chemistry of the major constituents of plant biomass (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin)
To act for sustainability and to make innovation
Learning outcomes :
- To know the chemical and physical structure of the lignocellulosic biomass components
- To explain lignocellulosic component reactions in conventionnal industrial transformation processes and in aggressives media
- To identify the valorisation routes of lignocellulosic components
Nathalie MARLIN
Content(s)
course
Atomic and molecular orbitals, interaction of electromagnetic radiations with molecules, colour of organic compounds. Colour removal of organic materials
Structure of glucose and cellulose, cellulose chains organization, microfibrils, fibres.
Structure and reactivity of main hemicelluloses (glucomannans, xylans)
Behaviour of cellulose and hemicelluloses in an aggressive environment: acid and alkaline medium, heat and light exposure.
