Content(s)
The unit operations of the chemicals recovery cycle in a kraft mill. Processes and unit operations, chemistry and chemicals, reactions, mass & energy balance are presented. Physiochemical phenomena and the main methods for calculation are described.
- Black Liquor evaporation: multiple-effect evaporation, characterizations
- Green Liquor production: processes, characterizations, dregs purification (clarifier, filtration)
- White Liquor production: slaking and causticizing,
- White mud purification treatments for lime recovery (reburning in a lime kiln)
- Lime kiln operation
Chemical Engineering: basics and some fondamentals on general unit operations, reactors and chemical reaction engineering
Chemistry (general fondamentals)
Biomass chemistry (some fondamentals)
Test
Evaluation : Written exam (1.5h)
Resit : Written exam (1.5h)
